India boasts its state Goa because it brings much revenue from tourism industry. This state is located on the west coast of India and is famous for natural beauty, beaches, religious places, markets, and parties. Sometimes Goa resembles Hawaii but prices are lower.
When to go?
The peak tourist season lasts from November till February in Goa. Weather is not terribly hot in this period of the year, but evenings may be cool so you need to wear a coat. In late December beaches of Goa are overcrowded because people want to spend Christmas day there.
In May weather is too hot. Temperature rises to 95 F and even more. Sea is also not good for swimming in May.
Monsoons occur from June till early September in Goa. If you don’t like overcrowded beaches and look for cheap accommodation, choose this time of year for your vacation.
South or North Goa
The most part of luxury hotels (5 and 3 star) in this state are located in southern part, but North Goa offers all types of accommodation facilities to vacationers.
Beaches in South Goa are quiet, very clean, and almost virgin. Butterfly Beach, Polelom Beach, and Majorada Beach are the most famous of them. Tourists like these places because elite restaurant are found there. South Goa also has white sand beaches unlike the northern part.
Northern Goa is more lively and crowded. Parties, watersports, numerous markets, and tattoo shops attract tourists to the northern part of Goa. Party people will be glad to spend their holidays on Calangute Beach, Baga Beach, or Vagator Beach. Shopaholics are advised to visit such famous markets as Arpora, Maposa, and Anjuna in the northern part of Goa.
So if you want to relax in a quiet place and enjoy beauty of pristine nature go to South Goa. And if your aim is to take pleasure in parties, watersports, and shopping go to North Goa.
Your choice is also depends on who you travel with. If you want to spend your vacation with your friends choose North Goa. And the best choice is South Goa if you travel with family. It’s up to you, but family will not like skimpily dressed people or people drinking beer openly. However, North Goa also has quiet places such as Arambol Beach.
During your vacation visit Mollem National Park. Many spices of beautiful birds (drongo, wagtail, bluebird, hornbill) and butterflies (Crimson Rose, Blue Mormon, Tamil Yoeman, Lime Butterfly) live there. Vacationers may also go on jungle safaris inside the reserve to watch wildlife.
History buffs will be delighted to visit Old Goa. This city is located in North Goa and is famous for such churches as Se Cathedral and Bom Jesus Basilica. Remains of this city are UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Saturday market at Arpora should also be on the list while touring Goa. It is open only during peak tourist season. There are hundreds of shops in night market which offers clothes, accessories, vintage articles, and many other things. Music is played all night long and there are places where people dance.
Restaurants are also worth visiting. They offer a great variety of delicacies. Prawn curry rice, Cafreal, Vindaloo, and Sorpotel are ones of the most delicious food items in Goa.
